The Badonviller factory was founded by Théophile Fenal in Meurthe-et-Moselle, France in the 19th century. At the height of its glory, the factory had up to 1,000 employees. In the 20th century, the Fenal family bought the Lunéville and St Clément earthenware factories After several mergers and changes, the Fenal group became part of the "Terre d'Est: Faïence et crystal de France" group
