Antique French Domestic Metal Sadiron : CHAPPEE n°5

Vintage cast iron flatiron / sad iron.

A coat of arms with the inscription CHAPPEE NO 5 are moulded in its hollow center en dessous duquel est inscrit « LE CAIFFA » ainsi que le chiffre “ 5 “

CHAPPEE irons come from the Antoigné forge in Sainte Jamme sur Sarthe, which was revived by Victor Doré in the 17th century.

The production of household items such as irons and waffle irons flourished in the inter-war years.
This object will add a vintage touch to your interior, and may come in handy in the event of a power failure!
