Vintage stoneware pot without lid, light grey colour decorated with a blue motif, probably dating from the 19th century.
This model is typical of Alsatian pottery, and more particularly of Betschdorf salt stoneware which uses a vitrification technique dating back to the 17th century.
The blue is obtained from cobalt oxide. Guaranteed unalterable and waterproof, these pots are used in the kitchen to preserve salt / fat / mustard / rillettes / pickles etc.,
