Vintage green glass carboy / wine bottle
Stamped on the neck: Viresa
According to the legend, in 1347, Queen Jeanne took refuge in the home of a glassmaker in the hamlet of Saint Paul la Galline Grasse.
While visiting the workshops dedicated to the manufacture of bottles she impressed her host who blew so hard in his cane, that the bottle in progress became enormous, forging the admiration of all by its huge capacity.
He decided to market the model which he named "Reine Jeanne", in honour of his inspiration, but the sovereign preferred the name "Dame Jeanne".
