The technique of luster with metallic reflections (which goes back to antiquity in Eastern countries) appeared at the end of the XVIII century on the fine earthenware of Staffordshire (England) and became popular very quickly
1851 : After a few exhibitions in London, this ceramic with metallic reflections was a great success, reaching its peak in 1875.
The term "Jersey earthenware" appeared in France to designate this British earthenware with shiny decors. It is misleading because the Channel Island has never produced earthenware!
Beautiful pieces to garnish your table and a refined gift for collectors of fine table art.
