La porcelaine opaque, aussi appel\u00e9e fa\u00efence fine ou demi-porcelaine, est n\u00e9e en Angleterre en 1769 et appara\u00eet en France \u00e0 la fin du\u00a0 XVIIIe si\u00e8cle, notamment dans la manufacture de Pont aux Choux.<\/p>\n

Il s\u2019agit d\u2019une p\u00e2te blanche, opaque, \u00e0 texture fine, dense et sonore, recouverte d\u2019un simple vernis transparent. Cette fa\u00efence fine sera appel\u00e9e \u00ab\u2009cailloutage\u2009\u00bb, ou encore \u00ab\u2009terre de pipe\u2009\u00bb selon les r\u00e9gions et les mat\u00e9riaux utilis\u00e9s pour la cr\u00e9er.<\/p>\n
