Paire de chenets vintage en fonte de fer, orn\u00e9s en fa\u00e7ade de sphinx \u00e0 buste de femme, coiff\u00e9s du n\u00e9m\u00e8s \u00e9gyptien aux longues m\u00e8ches stylis\u00e9es.<\/p>\n

Reposant sur des socles rectangulaires, les figures pr\u00e9c\u00e8dent les longues barres porte-b\u00fbches.<\/p>\n

Toujours utilis\u00e9s par paire, les chenets se placent dans l’\u00e2tre de la chemin\u00e9e pour sur\u00e9lever les b\u00fbches : l’air circule ainsi sous le bois, ce qui favorise la combustion et donne un feu plus vif, tandis que les braises s’accumulent dessous et continuent de chauffer le foyer. Les figures d\u00e9coratives \u00e0 l’avant retiennent les b\u00fbches dans le foyer.<\/p>\n

Le motif du sphinx s’inscrit dans la tradition de l’\u00e9gyptomanie n\u00e9e de la campagne d’\u00c9gypte de Bonaparte (1798), qui impr\u00e9gna durablement les arts d\u00e9coratifs fran\u00e7ais, du style Empire jusqu’aux fontes d’art de la fin du XIXe si\u00e8cle.<\/p>\n

Les chenets figuratifs en fonte, produits notamment par les grandes fonderies de la Haute-Marne, comptaient parmi les \u00e9l\u00e9ments d\u00e9coratifs incontournables des foyers d’autrefois.<\/p>\n

Repeints en noir, ces chenets sont pr\u00eats \u00e0 reprendre du service devant un feu de bois, mais formeront aussi de beaux serre-livres ou objets d\u00e9coratifs de caract\u00e8re pour les amateurs d’antiquit\u00e9s et d’\u00e9gyptomanie.<\/p>\n
