Beautiful set of 12 vintage opaque porcelain pasta / soup plates decorated with a mint green rim and gold edging.

Stamped underneath : "Porcelain - SA- Opaque".

Opaque porcelain, also known as fine earthenware or demi-porcelain, originated in England in 1769 and appeared in France at the end of the 18th century, notably in the Pont aux Choux factory.

It was popular amongst wealthier clients.

Thicker coarser earthenware was aimed at more modest households.

Some pieces have stains and the colours can be faded.
