This object was created at the Vrigne-aux-Bois factory. Founded by Jean-Nicolas Gendarme, with his nephew and son-in-law, he built an industrial empire and rose to the 11th national rank.
The production of weapons, ammunition and cannonballs diversified after 1815, with in particular shells, irons, pottery and funeral crosses.
The manufacture of household articles including irons and waffle irons was prosperous in the years between the wars.
