Superb vintage ovoid-shaped vase in enamelled stoneware with dark green and white checkerboard motif.
This object was handcrafted in India and is signed Kripal at the bottom.
Kripal Sing Shekhawat (1922) was responsible for reintroducing 'the Blue Pottery of Rajasthan'. This craft of Turkish-Persian origin, whose characteristic blue pigment gave it its name, had completely disappeared from Jaipur in the 1950s.
