5 Antique French Cheese / Dessert Plates SARRGUEMINES - Obernai

Set of 5 vintage Sarreguemines pottery dessert / cheese plates.

This is the "Obernai" model, one of the most emblematic collections created by Henri Loux, an Alsatian designer and painter of the 19th century: a farmer has taken his horses to the river to drink ; the latter flows in front of a house with red tiles.

They are stamped below "Sarreguemines and Digoin - France - Epernay".

Sarreguemines earthenware is a ceramic production which developed from 1790 to 2007 in the town of Sarreguemines in Lorraine. 

The reputation of Sarreguemines earthenware is well established. In two centuries, the small family industry born during the Revolution has come a long way. Paul Utzschneider and Paul de Geiger have propelled the small town to the forefront of the earthenware industry.
