Genuine vintage glass apothecary bottle with painted sheet metal cap (colours have faded)
It has a yellowed label on which it is written "Pulvis Asae Foetide".
Asae foetide powder was an ayurvedic plant powder with digestive properties. It had antispasmodic properties and was effective in preventing infectious diseases. The powder was once used to make mother tinctures.
This apothecary / chemist / pharmacy / medicine storage jar bears traces of its past but will be a perfect addition to any curiosity cabinet, and will add a lovely retro touch to your interior.
