Beautiful set of 10 vintage opaque porcelain dessert / cheese plates decorated with a mint green rim and gold edging.

Stamped underneath : "Porcelain - SA- Opaque".

Opaque porcelain, also known as fine earthenware or demi-porcelain, originated in England in 1769 and appeared in France at the end of the 18th century, notably in the Pont aux Choux factory. née en Angleterre en 1769 et apparaît en France à la fin du  XVIIIe siècle, notamment dans la manufacture de Pont aux Choux.

It is a white opaque fine-textured dense paste covered with a simple transparent glaze. 

It was popular amongst wealthier clients. Thicker coarser earthenware was aimed at more modest households. 

Perfect for completing a service and creating a unique dinner table.

Some pieces have stains and the colours can be faded.
